Organise a swimming meet: entries, heats and results

Swimming needs an event programme and timed heats. TournoiFacile provides a dedicated console: swimmers enter events and are then assigned to heats and lanes.

Distinguish swimmers, entries and heats

One swimmer may enter several events. Each participation is an entry; several entries in one event form a heat. Counting swimmers alone therefore underestimates the programme. Check pool length and the number of usable lanes too.

Build sessions before start lists

Prepare morning and afternoon sessions or spread them over several days. Define events by stroke, distance and category. Quick creation starts an individual competition; the native console then lets you refine the programme and entries.

Seed the heats

Check entry times and withdrawals before arranging heats. Review lane assignments and start lists. Two heats over the same distance may have different running times: allow for swimmers leaving the water, starting procedures and scheduled breaks.

From recorded times to published results

Enter performances and race statuses in the swimming console, then validate publication. PDF and Lenex exports help share the programme and results. A software export does not itself provide federation approval or an automatic connection to timing equipment.

A worked example

24 swimmers entering two events

Assume all 24 swimmers enter both events, using timed finals, six lanes and no additional separation.

24 swimmers entering two events
Entries24 × 2 = 48
Heats per event24 ÷ 6 = 4
Total8 heats

Separate categories, withdrawals, relays or additional finals change this count. It does not determine the meet’s duration on its own.

Step by step in TournoiFacile

  1. Create a swimming meet

Select Swimming, then specify the pool, lanes and competition days. The meet opens in a dedicated console for timed events, entries and results.

  2. Prepare events and entries

Add sessions and events, then swimmers and their entries. Check distances, strokes, categories and entry times before seeding the races.

  3. Arrange the heats

Use the swimming console to prepare heats and assign lanes. Review each event and the session programme before publishing start lists.

  4. Validate performances

Enter times and race statuses, check the results and publish them. The console provides programme and results exports, including PDF and Lenex.

Practical questions

Does swimming use groups and matches?

No. It has a native console for sessions, events, entries, heats, lanes and times.

Can Toti operate the entire swimming console?

No. Use the dedicated console for native swimming operations. Group and match commands should not be treated as heat management.

These guides describe the workflows available in TournoiFacile. The figures are planning examples, not guaranteed running times. For a sanctioned competition, check the rules and requirements with your governing body.
